Project designed and executed for San Francisco University of Quito with the highest Australian standards.

Project Overview

Norlab was engaged to fully equip an academic research facility at San Francisco University of Quito. The USFQ Laboratory project involved the supply of Phenolic Benchtops, Metal Cabinets, Laboratory Chairs, and an Eye Washer Station—each chosen to meet the performance and safety standards expected in a university science environment. This engagement allowed Norlab to deliver a cohesive, fully functional workspace tailored to the specific demands of the USFQ Laboratory.

The Specific Need

The institution needed a fit-out that could support multi-disciplinary research across chemistry, biology, and applied sciences. Work surfaces had to withstand reagent exposure and repeated sterilisation, storage had to keep hazardous materials safely organised, seating had to support researchers during extended sessions, and emergency safety provisions had to meet international standards. Coordinating all of this within the university’s academic calendar added an additional layer of logistical complexity to the project.

Our Solution

Norlab responded with a tailored supply plan for the USFQ Laboratory. Phenolic Benchtops were selected for their non-porous, chemical-resistant surface, ideal for safe sample handling and decontamination. Metal Cabinets provided secure, ventilated storage for instruments and regulated substances. Laboratory Chairs with adjustable mechanisms and chemical-resistant upholstery addressed the ergonomic needs of a diverse user group. An Eye Washer Station was positioned for immediate access in case of accidental exposure.

Impact and Outcome

The completed fit-out gave the USFQ Laboratory a structured, safety-ready environment built for advanced academic research. Reliable benchtops, organised storage, ergonomic seating, and compliant safety equipment work together to support both daily teaching and independent scientific work. The result is a facility where researchers and students can operate with confidence, backed by infrastructure that meets international occupational health benchmarks—and a clear demonstration of how coordinated equipment supply can elevate the capability of the USFQ Laboratory.
